Montrichard is dominated by its medieval keep and it is set on the borders (department) of Loire et Cher and Indre et Loire. Today this city is a busy and vibrant place. The city has 3500 inhabitants (exactly 3499) and sits on the banks to the right of the river Cher along the valley slope. To the north of the city there is a large forest. Montrichard has a total area of 1436 hectares with 800 hectares of forest. There are several local circular walks taking you through this forest.

Montrichard is ideally located in the heart of the Cher Valley, at a crossroad of tourist activities with nearby l’Indre et Loire. There are 12 cities within the district and Montrichard is the main city from this group: www.touraine-developpement.fr. Montrichard has excellent rail and bus services with easy access to RN76 and A 85 motorway.  There are many shops and trades locally with markets held every Monday and Friday making this an all year round thriving market town. There is a strong sense of community offering good service to all its residents.
